Readers in their late 20s, or early 30s, will probably remember, with affection, such characters as Little Ted, Humpty and Jemima, the stars of the childrens' programme, Play School.
I am also sure that many of us who are much older will recall one of the programme's presenters, Floella Benjamin, who has just been appointed the new national president of the Ramblers' Association.

As well as wishing her every success in this p
osition, I am convinced that many members of the East Riding and Dewent area of the RA look forward to her attending one of our walks in the future.

Listed below are the dates, starting point, map reference, starting time and distance for all the free, circular guided walks in this area for the week beginning Thursday June 12. This also includes evening walks.

If you would like to join any of them just turn up at the starting point wearing stout shoes, with some weatherproof clothing, a drink and, if the walk is more than about five miles, a packed lunch.

Then, whether you are an RA member or not, you will be made very welcome.
