Heavy downpours in the East Riding once again ruined many fixtures again on Saturday. Several matches started but torrential rain mid-afternoon caused abandonment.
One match which did finish and beat all the rain was at Newport in Division Three where a remarkable bowling performance by J Todd helped Newport beat the weather against Hessle who were top of the league.

He had the fine analysis of 8 wickets for
11 runs and with J Exley taking 2 for 10, Hessle were bowled out for a paltry 24. Newport took little time to take them off and went on to win by 10 wickets.

There were no wins on Saturday in Division One. All four matches were either cancelled or abandoned. The fortunate two teams involved in the Hull derby match were Hull Zingari and Old Hymerians scheduled to be played on Sunday. It was Hull Zingari who claimed maximum points. They bowled out the Old Boys for 73 runs with Kemp and Dixie each grabbing three wickets. Davidson's 30 and Knowles' 31 helped Zingari to a 7 wicket victory.

Division Two fared little better, the only match to be completed was at Driffield where the visitors, Leven, enjoyed a tight victory.

Leven were restricted to 113 for 9 thanks mainly to the two Driffield bowlers - Kev Hopper (3 for 64) and Dave Nicholson (5 for 55). For Leven the only high contributing batsman was Andy Vodden who hit an unbeaten half century. Driffield made a good start at 50 for 1 but Andy Vodden took 4 for 46 and Driffield ended 5 runs short despite losing only 8 wickets - their hopes of bouncing back up the table dashed.

Let's hope for better weather next week!
