Driffield Tigers U10s travelled to Hunmanby relishing playing unknown teams and for them to come away with the cup shows how much talent there is in the Driffield area.
The first game was against cup hosts Hunmanby and it took Tigers some time to settle down with theirnew squad.

New signing Matthew Busfield played excellently and settled Tigers down with his pinpoint passing and vision off the ball - a rock solid player for the Tigers future.

Tigers started to find their feet and terrier Conor Fewtrell slotted home their only goal, the game ending 1-0 to the Tigers.

Fishburn Park (Whitby) were the next opponents and what a game it was, flowing from end to end, with chances going to both sides.

Fishburn showed how a physical game should be played but Jack Gibson in goal started where he left off from last season in unbeatable form and the game ended 0-0.

Scholes Park B were next but with Thomas Burton and Ed Farnsworth putting in workmanlike performances Tigers took control of this game and came out convincing winners 1-0 with a goal from Matthew Busfield.

With Tigers needing to beat Ayton for a place in the sem-finals nerves were beginning to show. Ciaran Hughes tormented the Ayton defence but it was Conor Fewtrell who scored the winning goal which put Tigers into the semi-final.

In this game, their opponents Phoenix from Scarborough matched everything Tigers threw at them, with Ben Dinsdale controlling the back causing this match to go first to Golden Goal and then to penalties.

Tigers have been here before and it still does not get any easier. All the players linked arms and showed true sportsmanship, but with Jack Gibson in goal spirits were high. Tigers came out worthy winners 3-2 on penalties.

So the final beckoned with Bridlington Chiefs the opponents, the last hurdle to win the cup. Isaac Wilkes and Sam Pallant scored with two long range shots to put Tigers 2-0 up at half-time and though in the second half Chiefs pressed hard to claw one back Tigers held on the take the cup home.

Tigers squad - Sam Pallant, Matthew Busfield, Jack Gibson, Ed Farnsworth, Ben Dinsdale, Ciaran Hughes, Isaac Wilkes, Conor Fewtrell, Thomas Burton.

o Training for all Driffield U10s, Monday September 8, 7-8pm, Allotment Lane. New players welcome.
