Hutton Cranswick Homing Society
Last weekend's race was the last of the old bird Season and turned out to be a high note to finish on, for some members at least. The forecast was not great so members were a little nervous and sent only 18 pigeons to Thurso. Too much rain on Saturda
y 19 meant the birds were held over to Sunday and were liberated at 7.30am in a stiff north westerly.

Colin Sedman had specially prepared his birds for this race and it paid off as he took first place with a Soontjen cross Roland Janssen cock, his flying time being 5¼ hours, which equates to an average of 65 mph. He also won the club nomination again, and early reports suggest he may have done well in the Federation and Lerwick Championship Club as well.

Colin Sedman also won second and fourth places whilst Malcolm Mason took third with one of his Red Fox Janssens. Ian Waggott and grandson were fifth.

The Shorter Old Bird Average (under 260 miles) was won by Colin Sedman and the Longer Old Bird Average (over 260 miles) was won by Malcolm Mason.

Results: 1 C Sedman 1908; 2 C Sedman 1811; 3 M J Mason 1779; 4 C Sedman 1750; 5 I Waggott & grandson 1685.
