Enjoying cricket

DRIFFIELD Cricket Club's annual 'Enjoy Cricket' initiative got off to a delayed start this week on Wednesday, after the bad weather washed out all hope of sessions on Monday and Tuesday, as originally scheduled.
But after the rain relented boys and girls were able to get out onto the field at the Recreation Ground to participate in the fun, as organised by Driffield CC in conjunction with the Sir Leonard Hutton Foundation and the Yorkshire County Cricket Club. The Wednesday session was put together at short notice thanks to the co-operation of the coaches, who aim to give boys and girls in school years three to nine a grounding in the basics and ‘fun’ of the game. It was hoped that the original Thursday session would also be able to go ahead as planned, though at the time of going to press, prospects were not good for a start on time. However, the children did enjoy the Wednesday session as photographer PAM STANFORTH’S pictures show.
