Bradford won the toss in the Joe Lumb U17 cricket final and invited East Yorkshire to bat on a difficult rain affected pitch.
East Yorkshire were soon in trouble with three of the first four batsmen failing to score, only Tom Fox of the early batsmen with 25 making any headway. However when he was out at 45 for 5 it was then left to Driffield’s Danny Broumpton to try and hold the innings together. He made a very good 35 with six fours and one huge six but when he was eighth out at 86 there was no way back for East Yorkshire who were dismissed for 99 in only 32 overs.
S Ali (4-32) and N Mohammed (3-17) were the bowling destroyers for Bradford with the ball seaming all over.
In reply Bradford scored 102 for 4 in 31 overs on what was by now a much easier pitch, F Rehman (42) and D Hester (27) leading the way.
For East Yorkshire Driffield’s Nick Hard-grave took 2 for 30 .
It was a disappointing end to what has been a great season for the East Yorkshire U17 s but the lads can be very proud of what they have achieved.
