BRANDESBURTON midfielder Will Atkinson (pictured) was on target for Hull City when he played in the opening friendly of the season at North Ferriby on Monday night.
City played different teams in the first and second halves of a 35 minutes each way game played for the Billy Bly Trophy with Atkinson featuring alongside new Brazilian recruit Geovanni.

The young midfielder, who has had loan spells at Port Vale and Mansfield Town as he seeks to gain senior experience, went close with a shot after Tigers had taken an early lead, and finished off a slick move when Wembley goal hero Dean Windass played him in on 15 minutes.

Atkinson did not feature in the second half as City went on to a 4-0 victory, and although he was on the bench when Tigers enjoyed another 4-0 result at Winterton Rangers on Tuesday he did get on the field.

With City taking a full strength side to play Belgian club Oostende this weekend, Atkinson is likely to be in the Hull City XI playing a friendly at Bridlington Town tomorrow afternoon (KO 3.00pm).
