Bags of rubbish have been fly-tipped across Ryedale, North Yorkshire Police have revealed.

Piles of waste were left abandoned at two car parks in Malton and Norton at around 3.30pm on Monday January 9.

The discovery of fly-tipped rubbish in front of the recycling bins at Wentworth Street car park in Malton and St Nicholas Street car park in Norton prompted officers to urge the public to correctly dispose of their unwanted items.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “If bins are full, waste should be take elsewhere, either to another mini recycling centre, or in these instances, just a short way to Showfield Lane household recycling centre.”

The post from North Yorkshire Police prompted a series of suggestions from residents that the bins should be emptied more frequently.
