PROPOSALS to use land at Hutton Cranswick for storage and distribution look set to get the go-ahead, despite an objection from the parish council.
DAM Structures Ltd have applied to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council for planning permission to change the use of agricultural land north of The Tower, Beverley Road.

Officers have recommended approval as the scheme is in accordance with planning policies.

But the parish council has said that the area concerned is only drained by soakaways and any installation of hard standing for a storage unit would result in more water run-off. The village drainage system is already unable to cope with current water run off.

A report to the ERYC, which will be considered by the eastern area planning committee next Monday, said: "The proposal will be contained within an existing compound area for similar storage uses and will not be readily visible from public vantage points."

"The report added: "It is considered that as the site is surrounded by other similar uses, the impact of the proposal in terms of surface water drainage would be minimal.

"In any event, the drainage is to soakaways and so would not impact on existing drainage."
