THE Rev Brian Lees was ordained at York Minster on Sunday, and will now serve as curate in the Benefice of Hutton Cranswick, with Skerne, Watton and Beswick.
Supporters from the churches in the Benefice attended the spectacular occasion during which 22 men and women trained in the North of England were ordained as deacons by the Archbishop of York.

Dr John Sentamu was assisted by the Bishops of Hull, Selby and Whitby and the Archdeacons of York, Cleveland and the East Riding.

As it was St Peter's Day, the evening service at Hutton Cranswick was the first for the new curate and took the form of a Pertertide Praise service. All four churches from the Benefice were represented and the organist was Alan Farrow with the church band also playing several hymns.

The service was followed by a shortened communion service when the Vicar, the Rev Ruth Hind, presided, assisted by the Rev Brian Lees.
