We take our lives in our hands

Reading Cliff Horsman's letter last week, makes me realise I am not alone in thinking the way he does and am pleased to say that it now makes two of us.
In one of the Nafferton Newsletters, which I was editing, I had the temerity to put in 'Where have all the policemen gone?' and received an email from the local sergeant taking me to task about it and was promised a better police presence in the futu
re.

Even after being promised at least a CSO at crisis times, like when the mums are dropping their children off at school and when us old nuisances want to exit from Westgate Meadows and have no visibility whatsoever in either direction . . . nothing.

We take our lives in our hands when we have to creep out halfway across the road before we can see anything and by that time you are in position for a collision.

For instance, a 4x4 was parked exactly on the curve of the entrance to our road the other day which effectively blocked any car from entering unless that car was prepared to risk crashing into a car exiting.

If we had a presence of some sort with authority these unthinking people could be moved on. Also they park on both sides of the road by the church which leaves a single lane for two-way traffic.

As Cliff says, the village bobby would have sorted that out. God help us!

Kenneth Carter, of Westgate Meadows, Nafferton
