POLICE are appealing for information after lead thieves targeted two public buildings in Driffield.
A quantity of lead was stolen from the roof of the public toilets in Cross Hill car park sometime between 5.15pm on Thursday July 10 and 8.30am on Friday July 11.

A small section of lead was also stolen from the adjoining Driffield Library just days after East Riding of Yorkshire Council workers replaced it following a recent theft.

ERYC are currently looking at alternative roofing materials for the buildings and are keen to see an end to the recent spate of thefts.

A spokesman for ERYC said: “The council has used alternative materials for roofing at other sites and will now look at alternatives for this site. We are working with Humberside Police to make sure that thieves are caught and we urge anyone with any information to contact the police immediately. Temporarily they will put felt up there but it’s quite complex work because it’s a curved roof.”

l Anyone with any information is asked to contact Humberside Police on tel 0845 6060222.
