NERVOUS flyer Jamie Stewart has braved a flight with celebrity air stewards for a reality television programme.
Driffield performing arts teacher Jamie successfully auditioned for a seat on CelebAir and had to buckle up for a turbulent flight to Tenerife.
CelebAir is a new ITV2 reality show in which celebrities including Dan O'Connor from Neighbours, former Steps member Lisa Scott Lee, X Factor favourite Chico and it girl Tamara Beckwith compete to give customers the most pleasant flight to a holiday destination.
The 29-year-old, who runs Driffield's Star Struck Theatre Academy with partner Jez Francis, managed to face up to his greatest fear and said the celebrity stewards were very good with him when panic set in.
"We met all the celebrities there. I don't want to give too many surprises away but they have to deal with me and they were all brilliant in the way they coped with me."
Jamie said he auditioned to take part initially to help promote Star Struck but that the experience has helped him on the way to overcome his fear of flying - and he scooped a free holiday to Tenerife. "I had a really bad flight once when the engines went dead and since then I have not flown," he said. "I am genuinely petrified of flying and there was turbulence on the way back but it was a really good experience."
The episode of CelebAir which features Jamie and Jez will be broadcast on ITV2 on Saturday at 6.45pm.
