FINAL preparations have got underway this week ahead of a Nafferton village charity body's 10th anniversary celebrations next weekend.
And organisers of the Nafferton ‘Lympics are hoping for a big turnout at the special event next Saturday, September 13.

As previously reported, the event has been organised to mark the tenth birthday of the Nafferton Millennium Committee and has b
een inspired by the spectacular action at the Beijing Olympics last month.

The committee says the event has been organised to celebrate their work over the years and to thank the village as a whole for their support.

And they are hoping that as many residents as possible will either take part in the activities or come along to give their support.

The fun and games will all take place on the village school field, starting from 5pm. Admission is free for all.

Attractions will include a bouncy castle for the very young, as well as junior sports, five-a-side football competitions, a putting challenge, target bowls, tug of war and a flat cap throwing contest.

Tug of war teams include eight people, of which two must be female.

Meanwhile, the village’s budding entertainers will also be given their chance to shine in a Nafferton’s Got Talent competition.

Other attractions will include music from the school’s Steel Band, as well as a creche, a barbecue and a number of side stalls which have been organised by other village groups in aid of their own funds.

As the celebrations continue into the evening, there will also be a bar, disco and live music from Dark Room in the main marquee.

The whole evening is set to come to an end at around midnight.

For more information about the event, contact Sheila Cook on (01377) 254281 or Ross Holmes on (01377) 254385 to find out more about the tug of war contest.
