DRIFFIELD-based artists are being encouraged to throw open their doors to art fans.
Organisers of the annual East Riding Open Studios event are urging artists in this area to make their workshops into a creative destination.

The event aims to create publicity for the artists involved and help them expand their customer base and i
nterest in their working methods.
East Riding and Hull Open Studios asks its participating artists to display, demonstrate and explain their skills to the public from their place of work over the first two weekends in October.

Studios in the past have ranged from a lighthouse to garden sheds, garages and galleries - the East Riding event has proved a huge success during the past two years it has been held.

In 2007 there were more than 6,000 visits to 52 studios and £21,000 in sales over the two weekends.

This year Open Studios will also include artists from the Hull area.
Applications to take part must be received by Carlo Verda and Anna Kirk-Smith of Big Skies, based in Bridlington, by July 14 for the October event.

More information is available on the website at www.eastridingopenstudios.co.uk or on (01262) 604672.
