IT students from East Riding College are looking for organisations who would like tailor-made software developing for free.
The higher education students, studying for a foundation degree in computing, carry out a year-long software development project as part of their course.

The client – which could be a business, charity or other organisation – simply meets with the
student to discuss their IT needs and the student designs and develops a software system for them.

Recent examples include a database system to enable a company to hold more information and reduce paperwork; a website to promote an arts organisation and a system for tracking planning applications. Feedback has been very positive.

IT tutor Tracy Murray said: "This project is all about giving the students a real project for a real client, which is invaluable experience for anyone who wants to work in IT.

"The client is asked to do very little, just a small number of meetings and fairly limited email or phone communication to ensure the project is going in the right direction."

Interested companies or employers should call Phil Earls, foundation degree computer software development co-ordinator, on (01262) 458800.
For more information about the college the courses it offers, call 0845 120 0037.
