AN accident waiting to happen was how the mini-roundabout at Wansford was described at a meeting this week.
Members of Skerne and Wansford Parish Council heard how, on October 5, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council had commissioned the resurfacing of the roundabout at the T-junction of the B1249 Driffield to Hornsea road and Nafferton Road.
Members suggested that while work was being carried out on the roundabout, some accident prevention measures could be carried out simultaneously.
Many talked of near-misses as they left the village and turned north towards Driffield, as southbound traffic - coming from the right - is not visible until the motorist is halfway across the roundabout.
A suggestion was made that making each entry to the roundabout a give-way would overcome the problem.
Members decided to write to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council expressing their concerns over sightlines on the roundabout and asking for some measure to prevent what they felt was the inevitable accident.
